It may only be pre-season, but it looks like we already have a contender for the worst own goal of the year… and possibly ever.
Minnesota United goalkeeper Sammy Ndjock produced the embarrassing gaffe in a warm up game against Premier League side Bournemouth.
Just two minutes after conceding an opener to Callum Wilson in the 4-0 pre-season defeat, the Cameroon international seemed to have everything under control.
But just as he attempted to get his side going with a throw out to a teammate, the hapless goalie lost control of the ball and sent it towards his own net.
The 26-year-old scrambled back but couldn’t prevent it going over for a dreadful own goal.
Shocking stuff.
