Dons winger Jonny Hayes is set to return for this weekend’s Premiership clash with Inverness Caley Thistle.
The news will come as a massive boost for Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes and his team’s bid to challenge for top position.
Republic of Ireland international Hayes, who was shortlisted for last season’s PFA Player of the Year award, has been out with a hamstring injury for the last six games.
He now looks set to make his first appearance of the season at Pittodrie on Saturday after successfully coming through training this week.
The Dons have struggled so far in the opening games of the campaign and have taken just five points.
McInnes reckons Hayes can inspire his side turn things around and make a drive for the top of the table.
He told the Evening Express: “Jonny has been on a brilliant run of form in the last two or three seasons and it is great to have him back.
“He is such a key player for us and we had seen that again this season before his injury.
“Jonny has had a good week’s training and will be in the squad for the Inverness game.
