Joey Barton’s Rangers career looks to be all but over and bookies are already pricing up where the troubled midfielder could end up next.
Barton’s first spell in the Scottish Premiership may so far have been underwhelming but the bookmakers reckon the former Manchester City ace could be set for a shock move to another Scottish club.
While former clubs Burnley and Aston Villa remain favourites to sign the 34-year-old, SkyBet have set odds for a move to Hearts at 14/1 and included a switch to the Dons at a 20/1 shot.
The news will come as a shock to Aberdeen fans with many unlikely to be keen on the idea of signing a player who has failed to impress for a rival side.
However, with a stellar performance for newly-promoted Burnley in the Championship last season, if Barton does leave Rangers, there will be no shortage of clubs willing to take a punt.
Full odds on Barton’s next move…
Burnley – 1/3
QPR – 6/1
Aston Villa – 12/1
Hearts, Cardiff, Valencia – 14/1
Fulham, Huddersfield, Leeds United, Lyon, St Etienne – 16/1
Aberdeen, Real Sociedad, Malaga, Lille, Norwich – 20/1
