There are no less than ten Dons players reaching the end of their contract this summer – but which ones will sign on the dotted line? And who will go?
Derek McInnes has said he isn’t worried about negotiations, despite several first team players coming in to the last six months of their contract next month.
We take a look at who is likely to stay on for years to come and who could find themselves looking for a new club in the summer.
Andrew Considine
Likelihood to stay: 10
Club stalwart and Mr Reliable, well-liked by McInnes and versatile. Definite to stay.
Ashton Taylor
Likelihood to stay: 5
50-50. Just become a father and return to England may suit family. Good in the air and a threat from set pieces… But everyone is nervous when the ball’s at his feet.
Peter Pawlett
Likelihood to stay: 7
Rated highly by Dons boss but consistency has been an issue in last 12 months. Can change the course of a match though when his pace is introduced late on.
Cammy Smith
Likelihood to stay: 4
On loan at Dundee United, is he playing regularly? McInnes has given him plenty opportunities in the Dons starting line. But it feels like he’s never really taken his chance.
Scott Wright
Likelihood to stay: 5
Quick and has potential but first team chances have been limited.
Niall McGinn
Likelihood to stay: 5
In talks about a new deal and has expressed his desire to stay but next contract is a big factor for NI international. Fans would love to see him at Pittodrie next season and beyond – as McGinn is a match winner.
Lawrence Shankland
Likelihood to stay: 3
Spent most of Dons career on loan, yet to score first team goal. But has done well for other clubs whilst learning his trade.
Ryan Jack
Likelihood to stay: 5
Captain and player who has expressed desire to try English football at some point, but may fancy another year or two at Pittodrie following recent injury. Will he stay? McInnes will want to keep him, that’s for sure.
Joe Nuttall
Likelihood to stay: 4
Former Man City youth team player is on loan at Stranraer. Doubts whether he can break into first team.
Callum Morris
Likelihood to stay: 3
Signed in the summer and yet to kick a ball for the Dons. Cover for Logan and central defence but has not been needed yet. May crave chance at regular football elsewhere.
