Aberdeen have denied claims they were forced to reject a bid from Championship side Cardiff City for one of their star players.
Rumours surfaced yesterday saying The Bluebirds had tabled a £500,000 bid for Jonny Hayes but that the Dons had turned down the offer.
The report came amid claims that Wigan Athletic had also identified the Irishman as one of their key January transfer window targets.
Hayes currently has 18 months left on his contract at Pittodrie and Dons boss Derek McInnes is expected to discuss his future at a press conference in Dubai later today.
However, club spokesman Dave Macdermid has already shot down the rumours.
He said: “It is our understanding there have been no formal bids.”
