Aberdeen midfielder Cammy Smith’s season-long loan at Dundee United could be cut short.
The 21-year-old has started only five of the Tannadice club’s 21 league matches this season.
Meanwhile, Caley Thistle and Kilmarnock face a waiting game over Dons attacker Miles Storey.
Both are keen to land the player on loan for the remainder of the season but the Dons are unprepared to let the former Bristol City player depart until another attacker arrives at Pittodrie.
Dons manager Derek McInnes said: “Cammy Smith is back training with us. We have been disappointed he hasn’t had the game time we anticipated at Dundee United.
“We are entered into a season-long loan with them, so that will have to be honoured.
“We will speak to Cammy and try to find a solution for him because he needs to be playing.
“Scott McKenna will be going back on loan to Ayr United until the end of the season as well.
“We have had a few calls about Miles Storey but no one is available until we know how we’re fixed by the end of the month.”
