Police have issued advice to fans travelling to Dingwall for Ross County’s clash with Aberdeen in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
North Highland Area Commander Chief Inspector Iain MacLelland, who is heading up the policing of Saturday’s match, said:‘‘It’s great to welcome Aberdeen FC and fans to Ross-shire and I hope they serve up a game to remember for both sides.”
‘‘From a policing point of view, officers will be working hard to ensure everyone can enjoy the brilliant atmosphere at Dingwall and will be keeping people safe throughout the day.’’
Over 4,000 fans are anticipated to travel from across the Highlands and Aberdeenshire to make the 3pm kick off.
Chief Inspector MacLelland continuesd: “Police Scotland has been working closely with the local licensed trade and will maintain a highly visible presence in and around pubs throughout the day to help ensure all supporters can enjoy the pre and post-atmosphere in a safe environment.
“On this note it is important to emphasise that anyone who is drunk will not be permitted entry to the grounds and could face arrest.
“As with any busy match there will be a heavy flow of traffic in and around Dingwall – please allow plenty of time for your journey to ensure you reach Victoria Park in plenty of time.
“No alcohol is allowed on buses and coaches and Police Scotland will be stopping vehicles to ensure this legislation is complied with. Similarly, Police Scotland along with British Transport Police urges supporters to be good natured and considerate of all passengers.”
