Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis believes there are more than enough challenges remaining at Pittodrie to keep manager Derek McInnes at the club.
The Dons manager has been linked with the vacant manager’s position at Rangers following Mark Warburton’s controversial departure on Friday.
Lewis is not surprised his manager has immediately been linked with the job, but believes the Dons offer stability which may not be afforded elsewhere.
The goalkeeper said: “He’s a fantastic manager so like when players get linked with other teams, it means he’s doing a good job. We’ll be happy for him to stay, but he’s going to be linked with them because he’s done such a good job here.
“It comes with the territory of doing well.
“Some of the players have signed new deals and their committing to the club, that shows people are happy here.
“It would have to be a very good offer for people to want to leave. We feel like we’ve got something very good going on here and we want to maintain it. We feel like we’re building something good.”
McInnes watched his side secure their place in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup with a tense 1-0 win at Ross County on Saturday with Shay Logan the unlikely scorer of the winner three minutes from time.
Lewis was delighted his side’s perseverance and dominance paid off with full back Logan’s goal three minutes from time.
He said: “We were on top for the vast majority of the game. When the draw came out we all knew it was a tough one for us. It was one of the more difficult draws we could get so we’re pleased to get through to the next round.
“We could have had a few more goals but their goalkeeper was fantastic. But 1-0 or 4-0, it doesn’t matter to us, we’re in the next round.
The win gives the Dons a chance of reaching another cup final this season following their disappointing defeat to Celtic in the Betfred Cup final in November.
The pain of that defeat in particular is fuelling Aberdeen’s drive.
Lewis said: “We let ourselves down with our performance in the League Cup final. Everyone’s hungry to get back their and put things right.”
