Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes claims his future is at Pittodrie despite speculation linking him with the Rangers job.
McInnes has been touted for a move to Ibrox following Mark Warburton’s departure on Friday, but his attention is on the Dons where he believes he has unfinished business.
He said: “Do I see my future as being at Aberdeen? I do and I’ve stated plenty of times I’m really happy here.
“This is somewhere I’m really enjoying and I feel we still have work to do. I still feel there is more to come from us and hopefully we can show that.
“I have never been one to get too caught up in speculation, rumour and gossip.
“Rangers are a strong club and will always attract people, but all I’m interested in is Aberdeen.
“I am concentrating on the job I’ve got and there’s enough going on here, my focus and my players’ focus is the same.”
The Aberdeen manager was surprised by Warburton’s departure on Friday following a fall out between the manager and his chairman Dave King and reiterated his belief a strong relationship is key to success.
He said: “The timing of Mark going was a surprise and it’s never nice to see another manager lose his job. What has come out in the last few days suggests there was a breakdown in the relationship.
“Relationships are so important in football and I’ve found the ones I’ve had with Geoff Brown at St Johnstone and now Stewart Milne here have definitely helped in what we’re trying to do on the pitch.”
McInnes was keen to keep the focus on tonight’s Premiership match against Motherwell at Pittodrie where victory will take the Dons three points clear of the Gers in the chase for second place in the Scottish Premiership.
Andy Considine, pictured, handed the manager a pre-match boost when he signed a new two-year contract yesterday.
The Dons manager was pleased the 29-year-old has committed his future to the club and said: “At the age he is I still believe he has more improvement in him.
“He’s got experience, is athletic and I trust what I get from him.”
The manager will have to make one enforced change to his team for the first time in nine matches with Graeme Shinnie suspended. Defender Mark Reynolds is also a doubt after limping off with an ankle injury in the Scottish Cup win at Ross County on Saturday.
McInnes said: “We are on a strong run at the moment, we have had one defeat in eight games and have a Scottish Cup quarter-final to look forward to. We want to win our game in hand now and move clear into second place.”
