Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was surprised no action was taken against Aberdeen attacker Jayden Stockley following the collision which ended Hoops defender Kieran Tierney’s Scottish Cup final involvement.
The Hoops full back was left crumpled in a heap on the Hampden pitch following the incident with Stockley and was replaced by Tom Rogic, who went on to score the winner in added time.
The Scotland full back’s mouth was bleeding heavily and Rodgers fears his player will need surgery.
Rodgers said: “Kieran’s mouth is swollen, but he’s still here and he got his medal.
“His teeth came through his palate in the top of his mouth and I can’t imagine how sore that is.
“My initial reaction was that’s twice it has happened. Kieran took a heavy elbow up at Pittodrie in a game we won 3-1 and he was down for a while there.
“I don’t want to comment as I haven’t seen it again, but the kid needs an operation.
“I’m surprised the officials did nothing. It was incredible that nothing happened.”
While disappointed with Tierney’s short-lived cup final appearance, Rodgers was thrilled to see his side come from behind to beat the Dons and end the season as unbeaten treble winners.
He said: “We’re elated. It was a very tough game and to win it like we did was special.
“It’s an incredible feeling and the credit should go to the players. It has been a fantastic league to play in and what we’ve done this season is monumental. I said before, and I repeat, Derek McInnes has done a brilliant job with Aberdeen. We had to come from behind and play like a champion and we did that. It will take a few days to sink in.
“To achieve what we’ve done in our first season is very humbling. History will judge me and I’ve only just begun here. It is a privilege to manage this club.”
Rogic’s late goal broke Aberdeen hearts but Rodgers believes his side merited the late winner which left the Dons players on their knees.
He said: “I felt the goal was coming. The first half was broken and credit to Aberdeen for that. Aberdeen played a man marking game and I told the players we had to be patient and we were.
“Our passing and movement was good in the second half and we created some chances, but it took us right to the end.”
