Celtic have made a move for Dons star Jonny Hayes and hope to secure a £1.2million deal for the Irishman as early as this weekend, according to reports.
English Championship sides Cardiff City and Birmingham City are also keen to land the 29-year-old.
Media reports suggest the Dons have reluctantly accepted that Hayes will leave the club but are still negotiating exactly how the deal with be structured.
Some fans have called for Ryan Christie, who impressed at Pittodrie this season, to be part of any compensation package.
Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp travelled to Glasgow to watch the winger in Saturday’s 2-1 Scottish Cup final defeat to Celtic at Hampden, while Cardiff had three bids of £650,000 kicked out by the Pittodrie club in January.
The Parkhead club believe they have the edge on negotiations with Derek McInnes also reportedly interested in frozen-out Celtic midfielder Gary Mackay-Steven.
Rodgers has been a long term admirer of Hayes and previously worked with him as a youngster at Reading.
However, Hayes signed an extension to his current contract just five months ago and is currently tied up until 2019.
He scored in his last two appearances against the Parkhead club.
