Dons fans have been left speculating today after Celtic target Jonny Hayes deleted a significant portion of his social media history.
The 29-year-old, who has been linked with a move to the Parkhead club, used an online service to delete every single tweet sent out by the player prior to today.
The automated message from Hayes’ account read: “I just registered to DeleteAllTweets.com to delete all my Tweets instantly!”
The move could be related to former Dons teammate Ryan Christie’s infamous social media gaffe when he was forced to apologise after posting a foul reference to Aberdeen supporters years before he moved to the club.
After realising the message had been tweeted out to his 22,000 followers, Hayes deleted it.
He later insisted it was a mistake, tweeting: “Anybody on here a bit of a tech geek? Basically deleted my twitter but need to get it back?… anyone clued in?”
The Irishman is reportedly subject to a £1.2million bid from Brendan Rodgers’ side.
