Jonny Hayes is on his way to Celtic after Aberdeen accepted the Premiership champions’ offer of £1.3million plus the loan of Ryan Christie for a season.
The Hoops have beaten off competition from Birmingham City and Cardiff City for the Republic of Ireland international, who scored in the Dons’ Scottish Cup final loss to Celtic at Hampden.
Aberdeen supporters have been resigned to losing the 29-year-old but will have hoped to have seen Hayes move to the Championship in England rather to the Scottish treble winners.
Hayes is on holiday following international duty with the Republic but will travel to Glasgow for talks upon his return.
Christie, who impressed in his loan at Pittodrie in the second half of last season, will return to the Dons where he will be joined by former Caley Thistle team-mate Greg Tansey, who last week completed his move to Aberdeen on a three-year deal following the expiry of his deal at Caledonian Stadium.
