Sunderland’s managing director has jetted out to the US today to hold crunch talks with Dons manager Derek McInnes, according to reports.
McInnes is currently on holiday in Florida but could be set to cut the break short to speak with the Black Cats’ Martin Bain.
The Press and Journal revealed last night how Aberdeen had “reluctantly” agreed to let Sunderland speak to their manager and his deputy Tony Docherty.
New Dons majority shareholder Dave Cormack said he would “move heaven and earth” to keep McInnes at the club and said he was “extremely happy” at Pittodrie.
However, the English Championship side is reportedly offering the Dons a £1 million compensation package, and pledging to triple his current £300,000 salary.
It’s thought a deal could be agreed within the next 24 hours.
