Scotland international Shaun Maloney looks set to turn down the opportunity to sign for hometown team Aberdeen.
Derek McInnes’ Dons have been heavily linked with a move for the 34-year-old free agent.
Capped 47 times for his country, Maloney was part of the Hull City team relegated from the Premier League last season.
McInnes has made Maloney one of his leading targets to replace departed attacking midfielders Jonny Hayes and Niall McGinn, but Hull have offered Maloney a new deal to remain at the club.
The Dons are unable to compete financially with the Tigers and Maloney is likely to agree a one-year deal at the KCOM Stadium this week.
