Birmingham City forward Greg Stewarts has joined Aberdeen on a season-long loan.
The 27-year-old becomes Derek McInnes’ third summer signing after travelling to the Granite City this morning to seal the move.
Stewart made a name for himself at Cowdenbeath, scoring close to 40 goals. He then joined Dundee and during his time at Dens Park scored 32 goals whilst making 84 appearances.
In two consecutive seasons he was nominated for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year Award.
Manager Derek McInnes said: “Greg is a player who I have admired for a while and I am delighted he has joined us for the challenge ahead.”
The Dons saw off competition from a number of other Scottish sides including Hearts, Hibs and former club Dundee to secure Stewart’s services.
He will now link up with former Inverness midfielder Greg Stewart and Celtic playmaker Ryan Christie as McInnes’ Dons revolution gains pace.
Scotland international Shaun Maloney has also been linked with a move to Pittodrie and is expected to make a decision on his future in the next few days.
The former Celtic star has been offered a two-year deal with the Dons but would likely have to take a pay-cut if he turns down a season-long deal with current club Hull City.
The Dons are also closing in on a move for highly rated Stranraer midfielder Kyle Turner.
The 19-year-old was on trial at Pittodrie in February and is expected to become part of Paul Sheerin’s under-20 Dons squad.
