Derek McInnes is lining up an old face to join his Pittodrie revolution, according to reports.
34-year-old Kari Arnason, who enjoyed a spell at the club under Craig Brown, remains an Icelandic international and spent last season at Cypriot side Omonia.
The veteran can play at both centre-back or in midfield so could play a vital utility role for McInnes’ side.
Capped 60 times for his national side, Arnason drew international attention during Euro 2016 following a spat with Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo over Iceland’s style of play.
Arnason left Aberdeen for Rotherham in 2012 and helped them climb from League Two to the Championship during his spell at the club.
