Kari Arnason last night completed his return to Aberdeen when he joined the Dons on a one-year deal.
The 34-year-old Iceland international previously played for the Dons during season 2011-12 before moving to Rotherham United. He joins the Dons after leaving Cypriot side AC Omonia Nicosia on Thursday.
Arnason, who has been allocated the number 14 shirt, is expected to fill the void in central defence following Ash Taylor’s departure in the close season for Northampton Town.
Arnason will have to wait to make his debut for the Dons as he ineligible for Thursday’s Europa League second qualifying round second-leg tie against NK Siroki Brijeg.
The Dons must score in Bosnia and Herzegovina if they are to progress to the third qualifying round where they will face a team Arnason will know well in Cypriot club Apollon Limassol or Zaria Balti, of Moldova.
Apollon Limassol are strong favourites to progress after beating the Moldovans 3-0 in the first leg on Thursday.
