Aberdeen will be without Greg Tansey for a month as the player is scheduled to have a hernia operation.
The midfielder is available for the Dons’ trip to Fir Park for Thursday’s Betfred Cup quarter-final against Motherwell and will the return trip to face the Steelmen in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
The former Caley Thistle player will have the surgery next week if the Dons midfielders come through the next two games but if Tansey is needed for next weekend’s league game against St Johnstone his operation will take place during the international break in the first week of October.
Manager Derek McInnes said: “It’s a restrictive injury that needs sorted but he should be able to give us some contribution in a game and it’s great that he’s agreed to delay the operation.
“These two matches at Fir Park this week were part of thinking of not getting it done last week as we don’t have an overload of central midfield players.
“That’s why we will take a breath after Sunday’s league game there and see if we can get it done.”
