Aberdeen came from behind to beat Kilmarnock at Pittodrie and reclaim second spot in the Scottish Premiership.

Trailing to Kris Boyd’s first half goal, two goals from defender Scott McKenna and a Niall McGinn goal capped a fine second half display from Derek McInnes’ side.

Dons boss McInnes made three changes to the side which lost 2-0 to Rangers at Ibrox in midweek.

Danny Rogers, Dominic Ball and McGinn came in for the injured Joe Lewis, who requires an operation on his knee, Ryan Christie, who missed out due to a knee injury, and Greg Stewart, who dropped to the bench.

Aberdeen started brightly with Shay Logan forcing an early save from Jamei MacDonald before the Kimarnock goalkeeper denied McGinn’s effort from the edge of the box.

His saves proved crucial as the visitors broke the deadlock with their first effort on goal midway through the first half.

Jordan Jones was the creator, driving into the box before finding Greg Taylor whose shot was deflected past Rogers by Kris Boyd.

Rogers denied Jones from doubling Kilmarnock’s lead before the break but Aberdeen responded with two goals in three minutes at the start of the second half.

Scott McKenna header McGinn’s corner home off the crossbar with Adam Rooney knocking the ball over the line just to make sure before McKenna scored his second of the game with a stunning 35 yard curling effort which flew past MacDonald.

Aberdeen put the game beyond the home side 18 minutes from time through McGinn.

The winger dispossessed Gary Dicker in his own half before racing clear of goal and curling the ball past MacDonald from the edge of the box in clinical fashion.
