Aberdeen players Scott McKenna, Kenny McLean and Ryan Christie have been named in new manager Alex McLeish’s Scotland squad for the international friendlies against Costa Rica and Hungary later this month.
McLean and Christie both featured in the 1-0 defeat by the Netherlands at Pittodrie in November while McKenna has been called up for the first time after becoming a first-team regular at the Dons.
McKenna is one of six new faces in McLeish’s Scotland squad.
Jon McLaughlin, Barry Douglas, Dylan McGeouch and Scott McTominay are all included for the first time with Scotland Under-21s players McKenna and Oliver McBurnie rewarded for recent impressive performances for their respective clubs.
Russell Martin returns to the squad after joining Rangers earlier this year and Fulham’s captain Tom Cairney is also recalled alongside Matt Richie who scored for Newcastle United at the weekend.
Manchester United midfielder McTominay is included after a number of impressive performances for Manchester United. The 21-year-old midfielder qualifies for Scotland through his father.
