Aberdeen finally learned their Europa League fate today and in Burnley, they have been handed a sterner test than they would have liked.
Having finished seventh in the mega-rich English Premier League, the Clarets are no mugs.
Nevertheless, it will be Burnley’s first European tie since 1967 and given they are set to kick off their pre-season a week later, there’s every chance the Dons could catch them cold.
The first leg of the tie will be played at Pittodrie on July 26 with the return at Turf Moor on August 2.
Here’s how social media has reacted to the draw.
After a 50-year wait for European football, some fans of the Clarets were less than impressed at being paired with what they wouldn’t consider exotic opposition.

For years I've dreamt of Burnley playing in places like Italy, Spain etc and now when I thought it may come true we end playing in Aberdeen so surely I can be forgiven for being a bit disappointed.

Some Aberdeen fans meanwhile, don’t seem very optimistic about their chances.

This however, is probably the key piece of information when weighing up this tie.
Burnley received £26.9 million for finishing seventh in the Premier League last season. Aberdeen: £2.28 million for finishing second in the Premiership. Expect plenty of these comparisons before they meet.

The Dons have reached the third qualifying round for the last three seasons and have aspirations of making the group stages.
Whatever happens, it should be a fascinating couple of weeks.
