Former Aberdeen attacker Scott Vernon is set to reject a move to Dundee in favour of a return to England.
The 30-year-old forward is a free agent following his release from the Dons but Dundee have made him a lucrative offer to stay in the Scottish Premiership.
Dark Blues manager Paul Hartley is a former team-mate of the Dons forward and believes Vernon, who scored 43 goals in his time at Pittodrie, can get the goals to help keep the Championship winners in the top flight.
Vernon is weighing up the offer from the Dens Park club but after four years with Aberdeen his preference is to return to England.
