Aberdeen are through to the final of the Betfred Cup final after a dramatic 1-0 win against Rangers at Hampden.
Lewis Ferguson got the only goal of the game 10 minutes from time when he headed the winner to book a final meeting against holders Celtic on December 2.
Aberdeen started on the front foot at Hampden with Niall McGinn testing Allan McGregor with an early free kick which the Rangers goalkeeper turned past his post.
Rangers responded with a set-piece opportunity of their own but Umar Sadiq headed James Tavernier’s delivery over the crossbar.
It was end to end stuff at the National Stadium and the Dons had another chance when Gary Mackay-Steven broke down the right before picking out Scott Wright. The attacker teed-up McGinn 12 yards from goal but the winger fired over.
The Dons lost the services of defender Andy Considine just after half hour mark following a clash of heads with Sadiq on the halfway line.
Eight minutes of injury-time were played due to the lengthy treatment for the Dons defender but there was no breakthrough before the interval.
Rangers moved up a gear at the start of the second half with James Tavernier testing Joe Lewis with a low drive from the edge of the box but the Dons weathered the storm before hitting the Gers with a sucker-punch 10 minutes from time.
Ferguson got the crucial goal, rising highest to head McGinn’s corner high into the net from six yards.
