Dons player Gary Mackay-Steven has taken to social media to thank medical staff and fans for their support following his Betfred Cup Final exit.
The winger was stretchered off following a horrendous clash of heads with Celtic defender Derdryck Boyata five minutes before half-time and there were concerns he had suffered a serious injury as he was taken to hospital.
Manager Derek McInnes ruled the player out of Wednesday’s trip to Ibrox to face Rangers but hopes he will be fit to face St Johnstone at Pittodrie on tomorrow.

In a post on Instagram Mackay-Steven said: “So Sunday never turned out the way I hoped but I feel very fortunate writing this.
“Firstly, a massive thank you to the Aberdeen FC medical team, Adam, Tony, Stuart and Gary who assisted me on the pitch rapidly and expertly.”
He goes on to thank staff at Hampden Park from the first responders to nurses and paramedic doctors.
“I would like to thank every single person that has taken the time to send me lovely messages and well wishes. I appreciate them all” he said.
Mackay-Steven finished by giving an update on this condition hoping it wont be long until he’s back on the pitch.
