Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has been linked with the vacant manager’s job at Stoke City.
McInnes and his players are en route to Dubai but despite being several thousand miles away there is no escape for the Dons boss who has immediately linked with the job following Gary Rowett’s dismissal by the Potters.
Rowett has paid the price for Stoke’s poor start to the season and has departed with the club 14th in the Championship after just eight wins from 26 games.
The Potters, who were listed among the favourites for the title as they looked to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt, are eight points off a play-off spot but the decision has been made at board level to change the manager.
Former Manchester United and Everton manager David Moyes has immediately been installed as odds-on favourite and is a free agent since leaving West Ham in May.
Former England manager Sam Allardyce has also been linked along with former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic and McInnes.
