Aberdeen have won the race for out of contract striker James Wilson.
The striker, who spent last season on loan at the Dons, is a free agent following his release from Manchester United but Dons boss Derek McInnes has beaten off reported interest from Sunderland and Preston North End to lure the forward back to Pittodrie on a two-year deal.
The 23 year-old impressed in flashes during his season on loan at Aberdeen and scored the winning goal against Hibernian in the 2-1 victory for the Dons at Easter Road on the final day of last season.
McInnes has been keen to add to his squad before Friday’s Europa League signing deadline and former United under-23 captain Wilson is set to be confirmed as the seventh signing of the summer in the next 24 hours.
