Goals from Sam Cosgrove and Shay Logan gave Aberdeen a 2-0 win at League 2 champions Peterhead.
James Wilson came off the bench five minutes from time for a cameo appearance after signing for the club earlier today.
The Dons forced several early corners at Balmoor but were unable to test Greg Fleming in the home goal and it was the home side which had the better chances.
The best opportunity fell to new Blue Toon signing Aidan Smith when he ran clear on goal but Shay Logan’s excellent sliding tackle denied the attacker just as he was preparing to get his shot away.
Having survived that scare the Dons promptly opened the scoring with their next attack.
Scott Wright created the goal, bursting through the Peterhead defence before squaring the ball to Sam Cosgrove to score from close range.
Cosgrove should have double his tally minutes later after Greg Fleming parried a Wright shot into his path but he could only direct the rebound back into the Blue Toon goalkeeper’s arms.
The Dons did double their lead 20 minutes from time, however, when Ryan Hedges released Shay Logan inside the box and the full back fired past Fleming.
Lewis Ferguson came close to making it 3-0 from a free kick on the edge of the box but his effort struck the crossbar.
