Aberdeen face a trip to far off Georgia after seeing off the stubborn resistance of RoPS Rovaniemi to progress in the Europa League.
Their opponents will be Georgian side FC Chikhura Sachkhere of the Erovnuli Liga, Georgia’s top division.
They play their home games at the 2,000 seat Central Stadium in Sachkhere.
Who are Chikhura Sachkhere?
FC Chikhura Sachkhere were founded in 1938 but disbanded and reformed following World War II.
Their biggest successes are their 2017 Georgian Cup win and their 2013 Georgian Super Cup win.
Both wins came under veteran manager Samson Pruidze, who has been in charge at Chikhura since 2008.
Despite the cup success, a first title still eludes Chikhura, who finished fourth during the 2018 season.
The Erovnuli Liga has been in action since March, Chikhura currently sit seventh after 21 games.
Route to the second round
FC Chikhura Sachkhere qualified for the Europa League after finished fourth, courtesy of former forward Giorgi Gabedava’s 22 goals.
In the first round, FC Chikhura eased past former Dons opponents, Luxembourgish side CS Fola Esch.
A late penalty in Luxembourg saw them win 2-1, after coming back from a goal down.
The return leg in Georgia was much more comfortable with FC Chikhura winning 2-1 again despite a late Fola Esch consolation.
Chikhura will take confidence from the fact that Fola Esch beat Aberdeen 1-0 in the 2016-17 Europa League before losing 3-1 at Pittodrie.
They’ll also hope that the Dons continue to lack sharpness upfront after Aberdeen missed a total of 52 attempts over their two legs against RoPS.
How to get there
Fortunately Dons fans won’t have to travel to agricultural Sachkhere, whose nearest airport is nearly three hours away.
Instead the match will take place at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi on July 25.
Supporters can fly to Tblisi from Aberdeen although they should expect plenty of layovers in other European cities.
Prices for round trip flights will cost upwards of £1,190 and these are expected to rise.
Alternatively fans can attempt a 63 hour long drive across Europe, one which would see them cross the Black Sea by ferry.
