Second half goals from Lewis Ferguson and Scott Wright gave Aberdeen their second win in three days as the Dons beat Livingston 2-1 at Pittodrie.
Scott Pittman’s goal set-up a tense finale but the Dons stood firm to record another three points.
Dons boss Derek McInnes made five changes from the side which beat St Johnstone 1-0 at McDiarmid Park on Thursday.
New signing Marley Watkins led the line on his debut while Matt Kennedy, match-winner Ryan Hedges, Scott McKenna and Shay Logan all came into the side.
Ronald Hernandez, Dean Campbell, Tommie Hoban and Funso Ojo dropped to the bench while Niall McGinn missed out.
Livi arrived at Pittodrie having held Rangers to a goalless draw at home last weekend and it was not hard to see why as they stifled the Dons for long periods in the first half.
Indeed, had it not been for a fine last-man tackle form Logan, the visitors could have taken an early lead as it was Logan’s inch-perfect challenge which denied Alan Forrest as he was poised to shoot after racing clear.
The home side’s best chances fell to Jonny Hayes, who saw a shot deflected wide, and Lewis Ferguson who fired straight at Robby McCrorie.
Livi had another chance before the break when Kennedy lost possession on the edge of the penalty area but Lewis did well to save Scott Robinson’s effort before Craig Sibbald’s attempt to convert the rebound was deflected wide.
Aberdeen stepped up a gear after the break, however, and very rewarded within three minutes.
Kennedy’s ball in from the left was left by Watkins and the onrushing Ferguson was tripped by Sibbald. Ferguson took the penalty himself, firing it high past McCrorie to give the Dons the lead.
Aberdeen quickly doubled their advantage as Hedges cut in from the right flank before sending Scott Wright clear and the attacker finished in style, firing low past the Livi goalkeeper.
McCrorie made a superb save to keep out a Watkins header from Hayes’ cross as Aberdeen pushed for a third.
But it was Livi who gave themselves a lifeline as a run down the wing from central defender Jack Fitzwater took him past Kennedy and Hayes and he then found the unmarked Scott Pittman who scored from close range.
