Spanish side Real Sociedad lie in wait for Aberdeen in the third qualifying round of the Europa League if the Dons can get past Groningen next week.
The Dons tie against the Dutch side is finely poised following a goalless draw at Pittodrie last night and manager Derek McInnes remains confident his side can progress to the third round by getting a result in the Netherlands next week.
Aberdeen and Groningen were unseeded for the draw and, should they go through against the Dutch, they are scheduled to travel to Spain for the first leg with the tie due to be played on July 31. The second leg will be held at Pittodrie on August 7.
The Spaniards, who boast former Arsenal attacker Carlos Vela, World Cup stars Haris Seferovic of Switzerland and French international Antoine Griezmann, who is being linked with a £20million move to Liverpool or Chelsea, in their ranks, finished seventh in La Liga last season.
They played in the Champions League last season alongside Manchester United, Bayer Leverkusen and Shakhtar Donetsk and their home is the 32,000 capacity Anoeta Stadium in the Basque region of San Sebastian, Gipuzkoa, 12 miles from the French border.
