Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has called for patience from his side as they go in pursuit of a crucial away goal at Groningen on Thursday.
With the tie poised delicately at 0-0 following the first leg McInnes knows a goal for his side will leave the Dutch needing to score twice to win the game and has urged his side not to go chasing an early away goal in the Netherlands.
He said: “Groningen will be confident as they have home advantage but going away from home has never been an issue for us and the fact they don’t have an away goal is a huge positive for us.
“We know what we have to do over there but it’s important we take our time and make good use of the ball when we get it. There may come a point where we have to go for it at some stage but we’re not at that point just now.
“If it is still goalless after an hour on Thursday it could get very interesting indeed but we are going there with confidence.”
