Aberdeen midfielder Barry Robson believes Peter Pawlett holds the key to the Dons hopes of progressing to the third qualifying round of the Europa League.
Aberdeen fly out to the Netherlands tomorrow for the second leg of their second round tie against Groningen with the tie goalless following the first leg at Pittodrie last week.
Pawlett came closest to breaking the deadlock for Aberdeen and received some rough treatment from the Groningen defence, who were clearly worried about his pace.
Robson was delighted by his team-mate’s maturity in handling the close attention and hopes Pawlett can play a key role in a Dons victory on Thursday.
He said: “Peter has that turn of pace and they didn’t like him running at them.
“He is definitely ready to kick on because he is a terrific talent and is a good kid as well, and I am sure he will go at them again over there.
“He is willing to learn, willing to work hard and is a lovely lad. I have a lot of time for him.
“There is a lot to look forward to in the second leg.
“We could have been a bigger threat going forward at home and they probably could have as well but we are confident we can cause them problems.”
