After the defeat by Celtic, Aberdeen will now be looking to finish 2017 on a high by getting wins over Partick Thistle and Hearts at Pittodrie.
During the first half of the season, the Dons have accumulated plenty of points without really hitting top form – other than when they defeated Hibs 4-1.
I thought that was their best performance of the season, although there have been other good displays.
And, if they can take care of these two home games, then they are finishing the first half of the season as the strongest challenger to Celtic.
By the looks of it second spot is still on the cards for Aberdeen. But, at the same time, these are the games you need to take care of.
They are two challenging games in their own way, but, if the Dons perform and get the six points, then it has been a good first half of the season.
However, there is a little bit of pressure on tomorrow’s encounter with the Jags.
With Rangers three points behind and Hibs six points adrift, if the Dons don’t win tomorrow, then the gap could close and there is more pressure on the Hearts clash.
But the Reds are certainly capable of winning both matches and they will have Ryan Chrisitie back, which is a boost. In recent seasons Aberdeen have set really high standards at home, if they can continue that, then it will make for a good end to the year.
