Former Aberdeen FC manager Alex Smith intends to return to work at Falkirk after having a pacemaker fitted.
The 74-year-old technical director, who was also once in charge of St Mirren and Dundee United, had the procedure carried out after falling ill last Thursday.
In confirming in a statement that Mr Smith has been discharged from hospital and is looking forward to returning to the club, the Bairns also denied suggestions that the veteran coach suffered a heart attack.
As well as offering Falkirk manager Peter Houston support on the training pitch, the Press and Journal columnist oversees the club’s interest in the SFA-backed Forth Valley Football Academy.
Mr Houston said: “We are delighted that Alex is now back at home and on the road to recovery. He is an extremely popular and valuable member of the coaching staff and we are looking forward to seeing him back at the club.”
