Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin insists the club have been ‘inundated’ with offers of players from agents.
Goodwin is set to oversee a summer transfer window rebuild of the Dons squad.
He revealed players’ representatives have been flooding Pittodrie offering their clients to the Dons.
However, Goodwin and the club’s recruitment team are already closing in on their own transfer targets.
Talks are ongoing with signing targets.
Goodwin hopes to get the majority of his transfer business concluded before returning for pre-season training in mid June.
Head of Recruitment Darren Mowbray has also been scouring Europe for signings.
Goodwin insists his signing targets must not only have the talent, but also the right character to play for Aberdeen.
He is determined to get the summer recruitment right to get the Dons back on track next season.
Goodwin said: “We are inundated with agents offering players to us.
“We need to make sure the players we bring in are better than the players we are letting go.
“It is important we get that side of things right.
“It is about ability and also about character.
“Players need to have those attributes and be able to come in to fit into the way we do things here.
“To make this team and this club more competitive next season.”
Phase one done, now on to phase two
Goodwin has already completed the first stage of the summer rebuild by cutting down the squad to make room for new signings.
Four players will exit Pittodrie at the conclusion of their contracts – Andy Considine, Funso-King Ojo, Dylan McGeouch and Michael Ruth.
Loan players Teddy Jenks (Brighton and Hove Albion) and Adam Montgomery (Celtic) have returned to their parent clubs.
In total, nine first team players have exited Pittodrie since Goodwin was appointed manager in mid-February.
The contracts for Scotland international defender Mikey Devlin and attacker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas were terminated.
Midfielder, and club captain, Scott Brown left in March to concentrate on his coaching career. Brown was recently appointed manager of Fleetwood Town.
Wolves midfielder a signing target
In the bid to strengthen the Dons, Goodwin has targeted a summer swoop for Wolves midfielder Connor Ronan.
The 24-year-old is also on the radar of Hearts, Hibs and German Bundesliga 2 St Pauli.
Ronan, who spent a successful season on loan at St Mirren, is contracted to Wolves until summer 2024.
He is also keen on Wigan Athletic attacking midfielder Jamie McGrath.
Republic of Ireland international McGrath, 25, turned down a bid from Aberdeen in the January transfer window to move from St Mirren to Wigan.
However, he has struggled to gain first team starts at League One winners Wigan.
Goodwin also refused to rule out a summer move for Ipswich Town keeper Vaclav Hladky.
St Mirren left-sided defender Charles Dunne, 29, has also been targeted.
Dunne has a year remaining on his deal with St Mirren, who have placed a £250,000 price tag on the defender.
Aberdeen’s opening bid of £100,000 was rejected by the Paisley club.
The Dons will have to return with an improved offer to secure Dunne.
Aberdeen also have active transfer targets in Europe.
Aberdeen braced for bids for stars
The Reds are also braced for summer transfer bids for Calvin Ramsay and Lewis Ferguson.
Liverpool, Leeds United and Italian Serie A club Bologna are in a race to sign the teen.
Champions League finalists Liverpool are set to launch a £4 million bid for the 18-year-old.
That could rise to as high as £6m with achievable add-ons.
Italian club Cagliari were also planning a £3.5m bid for Scotland international Ferguson.
However, Cagliari were relegated to Serie B at the weekend.
Goodwin is confident Aberdeen will emerge from a crucial window stronger.
He said: “I can assure supporters there is a really good team of people behind the scenes working to get things right.
“Steven Gunn (Director of Football), Darren Mowbray (Head of Recruitment) and myself are working tirelessly to ensure what happened this season will not happen again due to the quality of players we bring in.”
