Aberdeen’s loss will be Rangers’ gain as the Scottish Cup winners close in on a deal for the Dons’ talented teenager.
Pollard progressed through the advanced centre programme and under nine development group within the youth academy at the Dons.
His talent led to him playing for both the under-10s and under-11s in 2016 and he was also part of the SFA’s performance schools programme.
Academy director Gavin Levey, praised the emerging youngster when he became the first under-10s player to be named young talent of the month in November 2016.
Levey, who was head of academy coaching at the time, said: “Lancelot has always been a very skilful young player for his age group and has now started to add more variety to his game.
“He spends a lot of time away from the club practicing and he will be proud to be the youngest player to win the award so far this season.”
Pollard’s progress has continued at an impressive rate. He was named under-10 player of the year in 2017 and he has gone on to feature for the Dons under-18 side despite only being 15.
Lancelot not the only football talent in the Pollard family
The football talents extend beyond Lancelot as his sister London plays for Motherwell women in the SWPL 1 and has scored three goals in four appearances for Scotland under-19s.
While London has impressed on the international stage, interest in her younger brother has not gone unnoticed with clubs in England and Scotland tracking the emerging young Don.
Liverpool and Manchester United were both keen on the youngster but Rangers have leapt to the front of the queue and are closing in on a deal for the teenager.
Aberdeen will be disappointed to lose the services of a player who was rated highly within the youth academy but will be entitled to training compensation for the player as he prepares to sign his first professional contract with Gio van Bronckhorst’s side.
