I’m delighted Aberdeen’s bid to get their valuation for Calvin Ramsay looks to have paid off.
The Dons were under no pressure to sell the teenager on the cheap and rightly held their nerve to get his worth.
Ramsay is an exciting talent and one of the hottest prospects in Scottish football.
It doesn’t matter the size of the club that come in for him, Aberdeen are right to fight to get what they believe Ramsay is worth.
Now Aberdeen have agreed a deal worth up to £8 million with Liverpool for the 18-year-old.
It is understood the Anfield club will pay an initial fee of £4.5m for the teenager.
A further £3.5m in appearance-related add-ons have also been agreed should Ramsay hit certain milestones.
The Dons can be happy with that deal for a teenager who has only had one full season in the first team.
What also excites me is that it is understood the Dons have agreed a 20% sell on clause.
If Ramsay is a success at Liverpool that sell-on clause could bring in many more millions to the Pittodrie coffers.
This is the chance of a lifetime for the Aberdeen Youth Academy graduate and he deserves this dream opportunity.
Hopefully he follows in the footsteps of Liverpool’s Andy Robertson and Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney to become the next Scottish full-back to be a success in the English top flight.
Ramsay will be learning from the best at Anfield with Scotland captain Robertson and English international right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
He is such an exciting talent and there is no better club to be at for his development than Liverpool.
Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp clearly rates the teen very highly and as someone who can come in and eventually provide competition for Alexander-Arnold.
Ramsay’s imminent move to Liverpool is a real feather in the cap for the Aberdeen youth development system.
It has been a remarkable rise for the right-back considering he only made his first team debut 15 months ago.
He has gone from a first start against Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup to becoming a multi-million player at one of the biggest clubs in the world in little more than a year.
Well done. As well as being an exciting talent Ramsay appears to be a grounded, humble youngster.
Aberdeen will now have three Youth Academy graduates at English Premier League clubs.
Scotland international Scott McKenna will play in the top flight in the new season with Nottingham Forest.
McKenna earned promotion to the top flight with a win in the play-off final at Wembley.
That promotion also bagged the Dons an extra £1m in add-ons.
That shows the importance of inserting add-ons and sell-on clauses into any deal.
Ryan Fraser is also starring in the Premier League with Newcastle United.
Former Don Fraser has racked up more than 100 appearances in the English top flight with Newcastle and former club Bournemouth.
Fraser, like McKenna, is also a Scotland international.
Hopefully it won’t be long before Ramsay joins them playing in the Premier League and in earning a Scotland senior cap.
Aberdeen search Europe for a striker
Aberdeen are right to spread the net across Europe in the search to sign strikers.
The Dons are interested in Norwegian striker Tobias Lauritsen who plays for Odd.
Lauritsen has netted three times in 10 games so far this season in the Norwegian top flight.
Norway has always been a country renowned for good strikers and they are normally always extremely fit.
Aberdeen have also been linked with MTK Budapest striker Bojan Miovski.
North Macedonian international striker Miovski is wanted by a number of clubs.
There is so much talent out there the Reds must look at other countries for strikers.
So far Albanian international midfielder Ylber Ramadani is the only signing of the summer.
Ramadani looks to be a player with passion, determination and ambition.
That is what Aberdeen need because it was sorely lacking last season from many players.
Jonny Hayes should be the blueprint for new signings as he gives his absolute all in every game.
He never gives up, never shirks a tackle and will run through a brick wall for the team.
Let’s not forget Hayes also has real ability and an eye for goal.
If there were 11 players working on the park like Hayes the side will secure success.
Hayes is a manager’s dream player.
Full of energy, commitment, desire and ambition.
Good luck to Campbell at Stevenage
Hopefully Dean Campbell can make a positive impact during his season long loan spell at Stevenage.
Campbell is going to the League Two club and will ideally get regular starts.
He is 21-years-old and that is what he needs.

Campbell is in the final year of his Aberdeen contract. However he is a player I rate highly.
He is a good footballer and can certainly see a pass. Hopefully he thrives at Stevenage.
