Aberdeen have been linked with a move for Hearts striker Liam Boyce.
The Scottish Sun has reported Dons boss Jim Goodwin has turned his attention to the Northern Ireland international forward, but faces competition from Ipswich Town for the player.
Former Dons boss Derek McInnes failed to land Boyce in 2017 when the then-Ross County forward opted to leave Dingwall for English League 1 side Burton Albion in a £500,000 deal.
McInnes also expressed an interest in bringing Boyce back to Scotland in 2020, only for the player to choose a move to Tynecastle.
Boyce has scored 34 goals since returning to Scottish football, including 16 for the Jambos on their return to the Premiership last season.
He played a deeper role in the second half of the season behind on-loan attacker Ellis Simms as Hearts finished third in the league and qualified for the Europa League.
With Aberdeen facing competition from Sparta Rotterdam in their pursuit of Tobias Lauritsen, Dons boss Goodwin is reportedly keen on bring Boyce north, but Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is also keen on the player.
Hearts are also looking to add to their attacking options and are working on a deal to bring former Aberdeen and Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland back to Scotland.
Shankland, who worked with Jambos boss Robbie Neilson at United, is currently playing his football with Beerschot in Belgium’s First Division.
