The media were given access to Aberdeen’s pre-season for the first time this morning – and there were a couple of new faces at Cormack Park among the familiar ones as Jim Goodwin put his Dons squad through their paces.
Two of this week’s arrivals, right-back Jayden Richardson – who was signed for an undisclosed fee from Nottingham Forest – and Celtic loanee centre-half Liam Scales, were in action alongside the likes of Ross McCrorie, Connor Barron and US striker Christian Ramirez.
Ramirez recently returned from an extended break in his homeland and there continues to be speculation about where his future lies, but he is back in the north-east at the Reds’ state-of-the-art training facility as Goodwin gets his players prepared for the 2022/23 campaign.
Following a warm up which consisted of stretching exercises, then some running typical of pre-season, Goodwin and his staff got the balls out and put the players through a number of drills.
Three other new signings were not involved in the pre-season session at Cormack Park on Thursday.
Albanian midfielder Ylber Ramadani, signed from MTK Budapest, is yet to arrive due to to recent international duty, while the Dons only announced they’d reached a deal for another MTK player – striker Bojan Miovski – after the session had concluded.
Scotland international midfielder Lewis Ferguson was also missing, having been given extra time off by Goodwin after his international exertions with Steve Clarke’s Dark Blues.
