Benfica striker Luis Lopes is set to join Aberdeen on a three-year deal.
The Dons are understood to have agreed a fee of around £300,000 to £400,000 for the 22-year-old, who is also known as Duk.
Lopes, who moved to Benfica from Belenenses in 2017, has been capped at international level by Cape Verde.
He represented Portugal at under-18 and under-19 level but made his Cape Verde debut in a friendly against Ecuador last month.
He has scored 11 goals in 42 games for Benfica B in Liga Portugal B, having netted 18 times in 41 appearances for Benfica U23.
Benfica B, who are ineligible for promotion from Liga Portugal B, finished fifth in the division last season.
The Portuguese club are understood to have agreed a significant sell-on clause for the player should he move on from the Dons.
Aberdeen are working on getting the paperwork finalised before the player travels to Scotland for a medical and the deal can be officially confirmed.
Dons boss Jim Goodwin will be hoping Lopes can make the same impact in Scottish football as Celtic winger Jota, a former Benfica teammate.
Jota had played 47 times for Benfica B before going on to make 34 appearances for the Benfica first team.
He completed a permanent move to Celtic earlier this month following a successful loan spell with the Hoops.
Meanwhile, the Dons are facing a waiting game for another transfer target.
The Reds remain keen to land Connor Ronan but the midfielder is set to be included in the Wolves squad which travels on their pre-season trip to Spain and Portugal.
The Molineux side take on Deportivo Alaves (July 20) and Besiktas (July 23) in Spain before facing Sporting (July 30) and SC Farense (July 31) in Portugal.
Wolves boss Bruno Lage is keen for Ronan to be part of the trip before any decision on his future is made.
The Dons face competition from Hearts for the 24-year-old’s signature with German side St Pauli also having been linked with the player.
Aberdeen are actively working on two more deals as they bid to further bolster their squad following the summer arrivals of Ylber Ramadani, Jayden Richardson, Bojan Miovski, Anthony Stewart and Kelle Roos on permanent deals as well as the loan signing of Celtic defender Liam Scales.
Midfielder Lewis Ferguson is set to depart with his £3 million move to Serie A side Bologna close to completion.
