Aberdeen hope to complete the loan signing of defender Donervon Daniels from West Brom today.
Dons manager Derek McInnes wants the 21-year-old central defender in place in time for Saturday’s League Cup semi-final against Dundee United at Hampden.
Daniels does have other options but McInnes hopes the chance to play in a cup semi-final and help the Dons continue their pursuit of Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership can convince Daniels to come to Scotland for the rest of the season.
Strengthening central defence has become a priority at Pittodrie after Ashton Taylor was ruled out for six weeks due to knee surgery while captain Russell Anderson has not featured since having a knee operation in September. His comeback has been hampered by a calf injury.
Daniels, who was born in the Caribbean island of Montserrat, has previously had loan spells with Tranmere Rovers, Gillingham and most recently, Blackpool.
