Aberdeen’s chase for Ross County defender Paul Quinn looks to be at an end after the player pulled out of a medical and completion of registration documents at Pittodrie today.
The 29-year-old former Motherwell defender, who has also played for Cardiff and Doncaster, joined the Staggies last October and Reds manager Derek McInnes had initially tried to bring him on board in January.
That move failed but a deal looked on when the parties spoke at the end of last month and everything was in place for Quinn to sign on today. However, the player last night pulled out of the move.
Quinn played a captain’s part as the Dingwall men escaped relegation with a strong run of results at the end of the season and could now remain at Victoria Park.
Meanwhile, the Dons have signed Manchester City 18-year-old attacker Joe Nuttall on a two-year deal.
Nuttall, a product of the English club’s youth academy at the Etihad Stadium, impressed recently during a trial stint with the Dons.
He said: “I am very happy to be joining Aberdeen as it is such an historic club with a fantastic following.”
Nuttall will initially join up with the club’s youth side with a view to breaking into the first team.
