The Dons will face the golden boy of Macedonian football next week after Europa League opponents FK Shkendija re-signed attacking midfielder Ferhan Hasani.
The 25-year-old, Macedonian player of the year after helping the Tetovo club win the league title in 2011, has spent the last three years in Germany and Denmark with Wolfsburg and Brondby.
Hasani is afforded hero status by the Black and Reds supporters after breaking into the first team at the age of 17 and the club proclaimed The King is Back as they announced his return on a three-year contract from Brondby, a signing which has propelled Shkendija into the ranks of Prva Liga title contenders.
The signing, which has been funded by the club’s sponsor, Ecolog, a Dubai-based logistics company, will make Hasani the highest-paid player in the country on a weekly wage of around £5,000.
The Macedonia international, who has 21 caps and played against Scotland in 2013, has been registered in time for the Europa League qualifiers and he could make his debut against the Dons in Skopje on Thursday.
Hasani is head coach Shpetim Duro’s fourth signing of the summer, joining Macedonia internationals, attacker Besart Ibraimi, who joined from Cypriot club Ermis Aradippou, defender Ardian Cuculi, formerly of Albanian club Partizani Tirana, and midfielder Shqiprim Taipi, who has signed his first professional contract after coming through the club’s youth system.
