Aberdeen are closing in on 10,000 season ticket sales for Jimmy Thelin’s debut season as manager.
The Dons confirmed the Red Army have come out in force in support of new boss Thelin with more than 9,000 full paid season tickets already sold.
The milestone of 9,000 full paid season tickets has only been reached twice in the club’s history.
Now, the Dons aim to eclipse last year’s record season ticket sales.
The new Pittodrie era under Thelin is now under way.
Today is the first day of the Swede’s three-year contact to manage the Dons – however, Thelin will not arrive in the Granite City until next week.
The 46-year-old’s final game as Elfsborg manager was a 1-0 away loss to IFK Goteborg on Saturday.
Thelin was officially confirmed as Aberdeen’s new manager on April 18, but he remained at Elfsborg until the Swedish top-flight entered a summer break.
Season tickets are now on general sale and boss Thelin has vowed to “create something great” with supporters.
Thelin issued a message to fans on Aberdeen’s official website, saying “I am really looking forward to meeting you all.
“I am really excited and this is a big opportunity for me and my staff to create something great with you.
“Let’s create something really, really strong at Pittodrie.
“The culture is the people, so let’s start building something step-by-step, piece-by-piece and make it a really good place for our players and our supporters at Pittodrie.
“Thank you for your support.”
