Aberdeen Football Club have released goalkeeper Jamie Langfield.
The 35-year-old played more than 270 games for the Dons since signing from Dunfermline Athletic in 2005, but had become third choice behind Liverpool loanee Danny Ward and Scott Brown.
Over the summer months Langfield had been heavily linked with a move to St Mirren.
Following a man of the match testimonial appearance on July 26 against Brighton and Hove Albion the keeper said he was ready to leave.
Langfield said: “It did feel as though it could have been my last game for Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
“You never know, if I did leave I could come back with another team, but I was emotional at full time.
“Never say never. If it was to be my last game at Pittodrie it was good to go out on a high and finish with a clean sheet and win.
“I still don’t feel old, I’m throwing myself about like an 18-year-old and if it is to be my last time out there I will cherish it when I look back on my career.”
Following the club releasing him from contract, he wrote an Open Letter to say farewell.
