Jamie Langfield has had his contract mutually terminated by Aberdeen FC.
The keeper’s deal was due to expire in summer 2016 but he leaves The Dons in order to find regular first-team football.
Langfield spent 10 years guarding the home side’s net at Pittodrie and was recently rewarded for his service with a testimonial against Brighton Hove Albion.
The 35 year old announced that his days in red were over with an Open Letter.
In it he said “It was a difficult decision to make but one I believed would benefit me and the club.”
“I would like to thank every member of staff past and present, from the cleaners to the chairman, who have supported me and my family for the last 10 years.”
Some of his now former colleagues took to twitter to bid him farewell.
