Delighted fans from across the north-east enthusiastically welcomed Aberdeen’s £40million stadium announcement last night.
With the majority of the club’s support coming from the north and west of the city many said they felt making their way to the new ground would be “much easier”.
The stadium will come with modern training facilities and is expected to be able to accommodate between 19,000-20,000 fans.
It is scheduled to be completed within the next three years if plans are approved.
Brian Henderson, of the Huntly Dons supporters club, described the announcement as “absolute magic”.
He said: “I’m over the moon about it.
“I think it’s going to be a great place for all the fans coming from the north particularly. It’ll be much easier getting in now.”

Chris Strachan, of the city-based Blazing Lambs supporters club, said that he felt it was “the sooner, the better” for the new stadium.
He said: “It’s good news for me because I stay in Banchory so it’ll be much easier getting into the stadium now.
“Some of the places around Pittodrie might be affected but we have to move on and this looks like a good option.”
Bill Shaw of the Central Belt and Braces club, catering for fans around Glasgow and Edinburgh, welcomed the easy access the new stadium would provide.
He said: “At the moment the centre of Aberdeen is just a traffic bottleneck so this new ground should provide us with plenty of access.
“They should look to emulate Tynecastle in terms of atmosphere.”
