Aberdeen winger Jonny Hayes could be set for a stunning switch to English Championship new boys Wigan after he emerged as a top target for manager Gary Caldwell.
Named on the PFA Scotland Player of the Year shortlist, the 28-year-old was one of the key men behind Aberdeen’s title challenge last season.
His form has attracted the attention of a number of English clubs but Wigan boss Caldwell, a former star of the Scottish Premier League, could be set to offer £500,000 for his services.
Hayes is under contract until 2018 and having made his Republic of Ireland debut in March, Dons boss Derek McInnes will be keen to hang on to his services.
The Pittodrie side have already signed strikers Myles Storey and Jayden Stockley and are battling with Hearts for Irish attacker Conor Sammon.
