Aberdeen have signed former Cardiff City goalkeeper Joe Lewis.
The 28 year-old, who was released by the Bluebirds at the end of the season, has signed a two-year deal with the Dons and becomes manager Derek McInnes’ fourth signing of the close season.
Callum Morris signed a one-year deal following his release from Dundee United earlier today while attackers Jayden Stockley and Miles Storey signed pre-contract agreements with Aberdeen in May.
Lewis said: “I spoke to the manager on the phone a few times at length and he told me his plans and I’m really looking forward to getting involved. Working with the manager is definitely something which attracted me to the club, he has got a good reputation so I am looking forward to working with him and also with Gordon Marshall the goalkeeping coach who also has a good reputation within the game.
“I’ve got a few friends who have played in Scotland and a friend of mine Kevin McNaughton was here. He told me that it’s a great club and Aberdeen is a great place and that I’d really enjoy it. So I had no concerns about coming up here. I’m looking forward to pre-season and getting my head down and working hard.
“The European games were a massive attraction. Hopefully we can get through the first few rounds and get as far as we can. From what I’ve been told we’ve had a tough route the last few years so hopefully with a few decent draws we can go as far as we can.
“A lot of goalkeepers when they get into their late 20’s and 30’s become better players so hopefully I can do the same.”
